Travel from Lima to Huaraz by bus or plane for approximately 8 hours (bus) or 1 hour (plane + 45 min from the airport to Huaraz). A private vehicle will be waiting at the station to take us to the hotel. Free night.

Day 3
Acclimatization day, Churup Lake (4450m)
We’ll leave from Huaraz city towards east, passing through villages as Unchus and Llupa, up to the place called Pitec (3860m), where we have to pay the entrance fee at the Huascaran National Park control post, then start hiking in an ascending path, observing mountains as Huamashraju, Cashan and Shacsha also crop fields can be seen. This place houses a diversity of flora and fauna such as the wild duck, plants with healing properties and Quenual tree forests. To reach this lake we have to climb rocks helped by a steady metal rope, ideal for those who love the adventure or take other path less challenging. Churup is a beautiful blue lake one of the most frequently visited, surrounded by Ichu grass, Quenual trees, wild flowers, etc. there’s also a smaller lake on the east side for those who want to continue hiking, both lakes are right below the mountain with the same name, then return to Huaraz city.

Day 3

Day 4
Huaraz – Chiquián (3200m) – Quartelhuain (4200m)
Departure from the city of Huaraz by bus to the city of Chiquián, on the way you can see the different cities of the Callejón de Huaylas such as Ticapampa, Catac and Recuay, you can also see the mountain range of the Cordillera Blanca. We will pass in front of the Conococha Lake at (4050m). Once we arrive at the city of Chiquián we will continue towards Llamac to continue heading to Quartelhuin along the Llamac River passing through the towns of Pocpa (3475m) and Palca (3825m) observing mining camps, different flora of the area and the snowy mountains. Ninashanca (5607m) until reaching the Quartelhuain camp. Travel by vehicle 5 to 6 hours approximately.

Day 4
Huaraz – Chiquián (3200m) – Quartelhuain (4200m)
Departure from the city of Huaraz by bus to the city of Chiquián, on the way you can see the different cities of the Callejón de Huaylas such as Ticapampa, Catac and Recuay, you can also see the mountain range of the Cordillera Blanca. We ascend to the Cacananpunta Pass, from where you can see the Huallanca Mountain Range, medicinal plants, the Pucacocha lake and sometimes you can see Condors flying, then we will descend to the Janca camp located in the peasant community of the same name, near the Mitucocha lake, from where the snow-capped mountains Ninashanca (5607m), Rondoy (5870m), Jirishanca (6094m) and Jirishanca chico (5446m) can be seen. You can visit Mitucocha lake located 2.10km from the camp. About 5 to 6 hours approximately.

Day 5
Quartelhuain – Cacananpunta Pass (4700m) – Janca Camp (4230m)
We ascend to the Cacananpunta Pass, from where you can see the Huallanca Mountain Range, medicinal plants, the Pucacocha lake and sometimes you can see Condors flying, then we will descend to the Janca camp located in the peasant community of the same name, near the Mitucocha lake, from where the snow-capped mountains Ninashanca (5607m), Rondoy (5870m), Jirishanca (6094m) and Jirishanca chico (5446m) can be seen. You can visit Mitucocha lake located 2.10km from the camp. About 5 to 6 hours approximately.

From the Mitucocha Campsite we’ll ascend to the Carhuac Pass, through the Yana-Yana valley, and reach the Carhuacocha Campsite, where we have the famous view of mountains of the Cordillera Huayhuash as Jirishanca chico (5446m), Jirishanca (6094m), Yerupajá chico (6089m), Yerupajá (6617m) and Carnicero (5960m). About 5 to 6 hours approximately.

Day 6
Janca Camp – Carhuac Pass (4640m) – Carhuacocha Lake (4155m)
From the Mitucocha Campsite we’ll ascend to the Carhuac Pass, through the Yana-Yana valley, and reach the Carhuacocha Campsite, where we have the famous view of mountains of the Cordillera Huayhuash as Jirishanca chico (5446m), Jirishanca (6094m), Yerupajá chico (6089m), Yerupajá (6617m) and Carnicero (5960m). About 5 to 6 hours approximately.

Janca Camp – Carhuac Pass (4640m) – Carhuacocha Lake (4155m)

Carhuacocha Lake – Siulá Pass (4800m) – Huayhuash Camp (4345m)
We’ll pass through the three beautiful lakes of Gangrajanca, Siulá and Quesillococha, walking uphill we’ll reach a natural lookout from where we have a spectacular view of these lakes as well as mountains as Jirishanca chico (5446m), Jirishanca (6094m), El Toro (5965m), Yerupajá (6617m), Siulá (6344m) and El Carnicero (5960m), then reach the Siula Pass from where we can observe other mountains as Puscanturpa (5652m), Trapecio (5653m), Jurau (5674m) and the Cordillera Raura, then descend observing the Carnicero lake and finally reach the Huayhuash campsite. About 7 to 8 hours approximately.

Day 7
Carhuacocha Lake – Siulá Pass (4800m) – Huayhuash Camp (4345m)
We’ll pass through the three beautiful lakes of Gangrajanca, Siulá and Quesillococha, walking uphill we’ll reach a natural lookout from where we have a spectacular view of these lakes as well as mountains as Jirishanca chico (5446m), Jirishanca (6094m), El Toro (5965m), Yerupajá (6617m), Siulá (6344m) and El Carnicero (5960m), then reach the Siula Pass from where we can observe other mountains as Puscanturpa (5652m), Trapecio (5653m), Jurau (5674m) and the Cordillera Raura, then descend observing the Carnicero lake and finally reach the Huayhuash campsite. About 7 to 8 hours approximately.

Huayhuash Camp – Trapecio Pass (5010m) – Cruce San Antonio Camp (4300m)
This day we will walk towards the Trapecio pass, from this pass you can see the mountains as Trapecio (5650m), Puscanturpa (5420m) and Cuyoc (5550m). We will see lakes of different colors on the descent from the pass to the Cruce San Antonio camp, also known as Elefante camp. About 6 to 7 hours.

Day 8
Huayhuash Camp – Trapecio Pass (5010m) – Cruce San Antonio Camp (4300m)
This day we will walk towards the Trapecio pass, from this pass you can see the mountains as Trapecio (5650m), Puscanturpa (5420m) and Cuyoc (5550m). We will see lakes of different colors on the descent from the pass to the Cruce San Antonio camp, also known as Elefante camp. About 6 to 7 hours.

We’ll ascend towards, from Santa Rosa Pass we have a panoramic view of mountains as Jurau, Carnicero, Sarapo, Siula Grande, Yerupaja, Rasac, Tsacra, Huacrish, Rosario, and others, as well as lakes as Jurau, Sarapococha and the famous campsite of Joe Simpon – (Touching the Void), and finally descend to Cutatambo campsite. About 6 to 7 hours approximately.

Day 9
Cruce San Antonio Camp – Paso Santa Rosa (5070m) – Cutatambo Campsite (4265m)
We’ll ascend towards, from Santa Rosa Pass we have a panoramic view of mountains as Jurau, Carnicero, Sarapo, Siula Grande, Yerupaja, Rasac, Tsacra, Huacrish, Rosario, and others, as well as lakes as Jurau, Sarapococha and the famous campsite of Joe Simpon – (Touching the Void), and finally descend to Cutatambo campsite. About 6 to 7 hours approximately.

We’ll walk through the Calinca valley from Cutatambo to near the town of Huayllapa where we will begin an ascent through the Huaycho valley until we reach the Huatiac camp. From this camp we can see the snow-capped mountains of Tapush (5223m), Angoscancha (5450m) and Diablo Mudo on the south side (5350m). Walk for 6 to 7 hours.

Day 11
Cutatambo Camp – Huatiac Camp (4255m)
We’ll walk through the Calinca valley from Cutatambo to near the town of Huayllapa where we will begin an ascent through the Huaycho valley until we reach the Huatiac camp. From this camp we can see the snow-capped mountains of Tapush (5223m), Angoscancha (5450m) and Diablo Mudo on the south side (5350m). Walk for 6 to 7 hours.

On this day we will continue walking through the Huaycho valley and pass through the Punta Tapush pass. From this pass we can see a part of the Huallanca and Blanca mountain range in the distance. Then we will descend and pass near the Gashpapampa camp, on this journey we will observe the Susucocha lakes, then we will ascend to the Yaucha pass, from this pass you can see Rondoy (5870m), Ninashanca (5607m), Yerupajá (6634m), Tsacra (5775m) among others, in this step we will have 2 alternatives, walk the normal route towards the Huacrish valley and reach the Jahuacocha camp or descend the ridge to observe the mountain chain of the Cordillera Huayhuash and the Jahuacocha and Solteracocha lakes then descend to the Jahuacocha camp. About 7 to 8 hours approximately.

Day 12
Huatiac Camp – Punta Tapush Pass (4750m) – Yaucha Pass (4850m) – Jahuacocha Lake (4060m).
On this day we will continue walking through the Huaycho valley and pass through the Punta Tapush pass. From this pass we can see a part of the Huallanca and Blanca mountain range in the distance. Then we will descend and pass near the Gashpapampa camp, on this journey we will observe the Susucocha lakes, then we will ascend to the Yaucha pass, from this pass you can see Rondoy (5870m), Ninashanca (5607m), Yerupajá (6634m), Tsacra (5775m) among others, in this step we will have 2 alternatives, walk the normal route towards the Huacrish valley and reach the Jahuacocha camp or descend the ridge to observe the mountain chain of the Cordillera Huayhuash and the Jahuacocha and Solteracocha lakes then descend to the Jahuacocha camp. About 7 to 8 hours approximately.

We’ll ascend to the Pampallamac Pass, the last one in our trekking, from where we can observe part of the cordillera Blanca, then descend to the llamac village, where our private van will be waiting to take us back to Huaraz city. About 4 to 5 hours approximately.

Day 13
Jahuacocha Lake – Pampallamac Pass (4300m) – Llamac – Huaraz.
We’ll ascend to the Pampallamac Pass, the last one in our trekking, from where we can observe part of the cordillera Blanca, then descend to the llamac village, where our private van will be waiting to take us back to Huaraz city. About 4 to 5 hours approximately.
