Lost Goat was created by two Colorado locals, Joey Carrara and Will Yermal who have dedicated themselves to a life of adventure. Living lives as mountain guides and spending free time traveling the world with family and friends, we have seen every side of adventure travel, including the dirt, and glamour. Our adventures are inspired by our own wide-ranging experiences from self-guided hardcore mountain trips to high-end international cultural experiences, through which we have learned where the real value of travel is hidden.

Through exploring the world and working in the travel industry of Colorado. We started to see a level of service and unique travel style offered abroad, that was missing in Colorado. We aim to combine what we have learned from 50 countries visited, many summits climbed, and many 5-star hotels and tents slept in to provide fulfilling adventure experiences for people, at the end of which you get home, sit on your couch, and think, wow did that really just happen?!

Founder & Guide

Will Yermal

Will caught the climbing bug at a young age while on a family getaway to Acadia National Park in Maine. He quickly took his newfound passion to the local climbing gym in Massachusetts which led him into the competitive climbing scene through his high school years. While attending the University of Colorado Boulder, Will was able to continue to advance his climbing and skiing skills while also working at a local climbing gym. Since graduating Will has committed himself to the art of guiding and the pursuit of adventure, believing that the outdoors is the best classroom. Will’s desire is to share his passion of the outdoors and adventure with others who are inspired to see what nature has to offer. In his 26 years of life Will has visited 38 countries so far and is motivated to try to visit as many more as possible. He believes that the way you learn about the world is by seeing it.

Founder & Guide

Joey Carrara

Growing up in Vermont, Joey was exposed to the world of outdoor adventure at a young age. Through his ultrarunner dad, he was taught to move quickly and efficiently through the mountains. Like most millennials, Joey started his climbing career in a gym but quickly progressed outside after doing a semester with NOLS in the Pacific Northwest. He now enjoys hard sport climbing and bouldering but his true love is moderate adventure climbing. Joey sees the outdoors as the best place to learn about yourself through finding your limits, problem-solving, and the unique communication challenges that outdoor adventure provides. Joey is currently moving through the AMGA guide track and aspires to someday get his IFMGA pin.

Balanced Adventure Experiences

Often, adventure pursuits can get lost in the objective. LGC believes in providing experiences that have a specific purpose or goal alongside more explorative opportunities. It’s this balance of working towards something and taking it for what it is that leads to the most value found in an experience.

Learning Through Engagement

We believe that the best way to learn about the world is by diving into it head first. By being present in truly engaging experiences we believe that people leave with a more understanding and appreciative view of the world.

Calculated Risk

Risk is inherent in life. We have noticed that risk, whether perceived or real, has the power to pull people down to reality. One is brought to a place where they are open to acting according to the nature of the situation they are in, free from their conceptual projections on the world. By putting ourselves in unfamiliar situations where we perceive some risk, we are given a chance to practice acting with true clarity and agency that is difficult to find in everyday life. We provide a safe place in which to do this.
